Last week, I stumbled a non-profit that does some pretty amazing things for non-profits. The goal of Grassroots.org is “to adopt 10,000 nonprofit members, and to provide them each with an average of $10,000 of services per year at no charge (for a total savings of $100 million per year!).”

I was really impressed at the range of services they offered in their toolkit. This is exactly what OpenTech Ministries is looking to do, except we want to add the advantages of Open Source Software ot the list.

We also hope to meet the needs of a segment they specifically do not allow… churches and seminaries. I am hoping to contact them in the near future for a possible partnership and perhaps some ideas for cross-pollination of effort.

That is the beginning of an article over at Edge-op.org on Why Open Source in Schools. While I don’t want to recap everything here, it has great information and examples of the various options available.

New Website Based on WordPress

Yet another change… but this is one we plan on sticking with for quite some time. This time we have moved our website to WordPress. Yes, it is primarily a blogging platform, but it works well as a CMS, as well. Check out the blog, poke around the pages and let us know what you think.

Once we have CiviCRM installed as a standalone, we will move this install to the main domain.
